CHLA Expresses Support for the Use of Attorney Opinion Letters
(Washington, D.C.) – The Community Home Lenders of America (CHLA) supports the use of Attorney Opinion Letters (AOLs) as an alternative to title insurance, and strongly encourages FHFA to make its potential use an option for consumers. Allowing the use of AOLs holds great promise for reducing mortgage loan title costs and can provide relief in a particularly challenging mortgage environment.
“CHLA is sending this letter with the goal of jump charging public policy discussions about how to help consumers achieve cost savings on their mortgage through alternatives to title insurance – in a responsible manner,” said Scott Olson, Executive Director.
