Sue Melnick Appointed to CHLA Board of Directors

(Washington, D.C.) – The Community Home Lenders of America (CHLA) announced that Sue Melnick has been appointed to the Board of Directors. In this role, Melnick will support the organization’s mission in promoting federal mortgage programs and regulations which support community mortgage lenders.

“Sue is a successful businesswoman who will bring a deft business acumen to the housing policies our members regularly discuss with policymakers and regulators,” said Taylor Stork, president of CHLA. “Her significant experience and knowledge of the mortgage process will serve our association well as we continue to advocate for the needs of independent mortgage banks.”

Melnick is currently Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Bay Equity Home Loans. She has more than 20 years of expertise in litigation, mortgage compliance, and consumer law. Melnick began her Bay Equity career in 2008 and has increased her responsibility significantly over the past sixteen years. She oversees all operations in the forty-eight states in which Bay Equity operates, as well as directs their legal department. Melnick received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of California, Irvine, and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She was honored as a HousingWire Woman of Influence in 2021 for her contributions to Bay Equity and the mortgage industry overall.
